As we are directing, filming and have actors, we want to ensure that we are not in any danger. This will e done tightly following our control measures and have a generally careful attitude to any dangers in the process, by doing this, noone will be hurt in the process of making our music video.

Story Board - Task 9

For me and my partner to make a specific story board was hard as we can't draw the exact locations as we will be filming mostly outside of Bristol in places such as Amsterdam and London. Despite this we tried to get the main shots that we want to feature in our music video.

Filming And Editing Schedule - Task 8

We made a filming and editing plan to make sure we stay on top of all of our filming as well as editing. This way we won't fall behind and will meet the deadline and end up with a successful final product.

Contact With The Artist - Task 7

In this industry its important everyone has a good conscious in regards to copyright as it effects the industry massively costing billion pounds a year. Therefore we chose to ask the artist for permission to use one of his songs for educational purposes only.

Props List - Task 6

Some props that TheWeeknd may use in his music videos are props which we are actually unable to use. Instead of actually showing the drugs, we can use a smoke machine or still blow out smoke but use the editing machines to create an effect like slow motion or blur the shot giving off a dazed effect, representing the sensation of the drug. In my research I have saw this many different times so it isn't unconventional to actually do this.

Location Shoot - Task 4

The photos of locations are exactly representative of the footage we would get because it would need to be dark, also some locations aren't included because we are filming in Holland. I feel these locations really capture the urban culture of these destinations.

Moodboard - Task 2

These are images that show how I see elements of my music video looking. This moodboard covers props, lighting or setting. My plan is for these images to inspire some of my current ideas and hopefully you will be able to see how these images have inspired me in my final product.

Initial Planning Evidence - Task 1

By doing this task, it has allowed me and my partner to put some of our basic ideas on to paper and start to really vidualise what we want in our video. As you can see I have added pictures in as it gave us a better idea of what we can do and what shots we could actually perform, seeing as we havn't actually decided on a song yet, we narrowed it down to a possible 3. This helped us as the songs are quite similar and our ideas can be applied to any of the songs that we decide to choose.

Research Into Magazine Adverts - Task 15

A2 Media - Task 15 Tour Adverts

I feel that doing this task will enable me to create a good magazine advert. Through out my research I have found that the artists usually promote events or their latest work on their websites or sites such as Instagram, Twitter etc. rather than magazine adverts, this might be because this genre is relatively new and isn't as big as pop, it is more of a niche genre. In these promotions, the images are very clear and usually a large photo of the actually artists, as well as this, the poster is often related their previous work or an actual theme indicating what the event will be like. I feel that I can apply these characteristics into my own work.

Research In To Digipaks - Task 14

A2media - Research Into Digipaks

This task has really helped me as my knowledge on digipaks was minimal so know I feel much more comfortable in knowing what a digipak consist of, and also how they are laid out and other aspects are taken into consideration from artists from my chosen genre. This will enable me to relate back to these for help and also inspiration as it will ultimately allow me to create a much better digipak than if I didn't do this task. I have also been able to pick up on key themes which I will try to incorporate into my own digipak. Some of these themes consist of the dominant colours being black and white and direct address is often avoided.

Tracking An Artist - Task 13

From these 3 images above, it shows the development of drake through a time period of around 8 years. There isn't any obvious change and I feel Drake has done this to show he is still the same person and hasn't changed massively. On his Instagram, website pages and when he performs live, he is always thanking his fans, friends and family showing his humbleness. There is some changes to his presentation of album covers. He still remains in the centre of the frame, however in his recent photos, he isn't actually looking at the camera, this is because he doesn't feel the need to attract the attention he needed before as he has already created the reputation he needs. As well as this, the use of gold has been very effective, showing his status, and power. I feel the difference in location between the first and third album cover shows his ability level and how far he has come in the industry. The first photo is showing he is on the ground connoting he is at the bottom, and the third photo he is in the clouds, the top of the industry. This point can also be shown by one of his songs which is actually called 'started from the bottom'.

By following Drakes career, I am able to see the changes he has made and try to see why he has done this. I found the difference in album covers very beneificial as it shows how he has developed in different ways through his career. This will allow me to take into consideration any changes I feel my inspirational artist has changed which will ultimately effect the way I shoot the cover for my song.

Music Channels - Task 12

From doing this task, it has allowed me to understand music channels better and also it makes me think about what music channel my song would be played on but also what music channel my artists genre is most commonly played on. By knowing this I would be able to gather inspiration of some sort which would support my music video, or my digipak.

Audience Research - Task 11

Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.
When I receive some responses from my questionnaire, it will enable me to attract my target audience as I will know what they want to see and what they enjoy most about music videos from my genre. In my questionnaire I have gave a slight inside to a small part of my music video, by receiving feedback from this, I can gain further information to meet my audiences needs, or I can not include the shots if the majority of the feedback is negative. The voki has allowed me to create my a person from my ideal target audience.

Analysis Of Previous Students Work - Task 10

To do this task, I looked at the marking criteria and looked at previous students research and planning and gave them a score on what  I thought they would have got. The majority of the time I was on point or very close which is a good sign as it shows that I understand the marking criteria which ultimately shows I know what I need to do to get a good mark. I then also looked at three students videos and said what I liked about them and what I didn't. I decided to choose two videos which were very good and one which wasn't very good. I chose two good ones because it obviously got a good mark which enables me to take all of the positives out of it and try to converge that into my genre of music. However I also chose a video which didn't do so great as that shows me things which I want to avoid doing so that I can still pick up good marks and not get deducted marks.

Inspiration And Influence Evidence - Task 9

I found this task very beneficial as it allowed me to analyse some videos deeper and see how they are really inspire me and how I can take aspects and use them myself. For example the use of lighting and the simplicity of videos can prove to be very effective like The Weeknd has done for his video 'Wicked Games'. Overall, this task has helped me gain further knowledge about Andrew Goodwin's theory and have shown this by using a video for a literal, metaphorical and abstract. As well as this, I am able to look further into TheWeeknd which is my main inspirational artist. To add to this, I have noticed the camera is often moving rather than being stationary, on the close up shots of him standing still and seeing there, there is either a slow zoom in or out. I have also seen that the camera always tracks the individual when he is moving. This is useful as I will be able to take this into my filming.

Theory - Task 8

I have summarised how looking at these theories will benefit me in the last side of my prezi. But just to add to that, this task does develop my understand of music videos overall and it allows me to look at music videos in a different way and actually realise what the most frequent shot types are and how significant this really is.

Research Into A Relevant Genre - Task 7

Powered by emaze
This task has really helped me understand my genre even more so than I do already. By seeing the similarities and differences between the older and recent videos, it allows me to see what conventions still consist and by doing this I can use these conventions when planning my music video. I have seen that basically all music videos are performance based and the artist is positioned in the centre of the frame so that the consumers associate themselves with them straight away, this way the consumers attention is focused on them.

Influences Of Style - Task 6

The Weeknd mood board on PhotoPeach Doing this task was very beneficial to me as it gives me an insight to what kind of shots are included in the artists music videos and what locations are a possibility. I have gathered that direct address is not often used as the artist is usually looking in a different direction. Another positive is that I can see what effects are used and what effect they have on the people watching. I perceived the effect as trying to represent what influence the drugs or alcohol has had on the artist as the slow motion is representing his dreariness and slow reactions. I have also realised the lighting and clothing is very dark with shades of light catching your attention so you are focusing on the important aspects in the frame.

Research In To An Artist - Task 5

By doing this presentation/research into TheWeeknd, it has developed my knowledge about his music and the reasoning behind his album cover shots. I have also done a mood board which I think sums up my artist. As well as this, I have done a very small amount of research into 2 artist who I think are relative to my artist. The benefit of this is that I can still take inspiration from them as well as my own artist.

Analysis Of Music Videos - Task 4

A2 Media - Analysis of Music Videos Task 4

This task has helped me as it enables me to see how long shots are left on the screen for and also how quick the cuts are in comparison to pace of the music, it is usually in time and also it cuts at the same time as a part of the beat. I have also seen that the camera movements are also directly proportional to the pace of the music. As the music starts the increase, the colours become brighter and the pace of shots come and go quicker, and the camera movements often become quite quick. From this I can take into consideration the pace of this song, and this will then influence the pace of my editing and also what shot types and camera movements I choose to use.

Research Into Existing Companies That Produce And Distribute Music Videos - Task 3

This task has helped me because t gives me information about the typical people who are associated or relevant in my music genre, or more specifically to my inspirational artist. It also helps because it allows me to see that people who often collaborate with one another - such as The Weeknd and Drake -  usually use the same producers, or have worked with the same producer.
I have got some information from Wikipedia or from the artists/producers websites.

Conventions Of A Music Video - Task 2

By completing this task, it has really helped me develop an understand and gain some knowledge about different artist and different songs. By this I mean the shot types that are used an the effect that they have. It made me think about how some shots can be perceived as different videos include the same shots but can have a very different meaning so when planning my music video I am going to have to make sure I take into consideration how I want my shots to be interpreted. I have also learnt that in 'The Weeknds' music videos he uses a lot of slow motion and empty space, which connotes his loneliness or vulnerability.

History Of Music Video - Task 1

By doing this task, it helps me understand about music video itself and gives me an insight to how it has changed. This task helps me as there will be aspects of old and new music video characteristics in my music video. There will be the black and white side to it but there will be effects like slow motion and more advanced effects used than what they used to have.

Digipaks

Digipaks are a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs, they are made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs. They are typically in a 'book' style form (gatefold) on the inside of these gatefolds, there are plastic disc holders which the CD or Dvd is held by. This gatefold style enables more than one CD or DVD to be held in a digipak, this is beneficial as it means more than one disc can be held at one time which means digipaks can be useful if there is a set of CD's or DVD's.
The picture above is a typical layout for a digipak. There is space for 2 discs either side of the centre. The centre will often consist of the album name, the artists name and some information about the artist and the tracks on the album. On the back of this will be the front cover which will be the album cover picture and on the back of the centre panel it will show the tracks on each disc or information about what each disc is and what it consists of. The font will be relatively simple so it allows the audience to read whats inside the digipak.
Behind the plastic casing where the disc is held, there is often a picture of the artist or of a picture relating to the artist or the album. Digipaks or usually a lot more colourful than normal/single CD casing. I feel that it shows the artitsts personality more as it is more personal to the artist.

Reflection on lip syncing task

Reflecting on the lip syncing task has allowed me to see what I found difficult and what I found challenging. This is beneficial as I can then work on the challenging aspects by looking at them more in depth or isolating the skills and seeing what the problem is. this allows me to improve my skills which will eventually make me more comfortable when editing my music video.

Analysis of other students lip syncing task

By analysing someone elses lip syncing task, it enables me to gain inspiration and new ideas, but also see what not to do as there are mistakes which I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't analyse this. This is helpful as it means I am less likely to make mistakes when shooting my video.

Lip Syncing Task

By doing this lip syncing task, it has allowed me to develop my editing skills and also learn new the new skill of lip syncing which I will need for my A2 project. As well as this, it has enabled me to achieve new skills and ideas for my future music video.
